The Chicano Federation
EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES through programs that create new opportunities
Investing in California’s Future Through Life-Changing Community Partnerships
The Chicano Federation of San Diego advocates for and directly impacts the lives of all San Diegans in need through comprehensive resources, engagement and personal connection.
They are the helping hand that strives to help hardworking families and individuals break the cycle of poverty and create paths to successful futures.
The Chicano Federation started in 1968 in the heart of the civil rights movement. Today, they serve more than 8,000 individuals monthly and dedicate themselves to providing meaningful, life-changing interactions with each family they serve.
With a list of comprehensive essential services programs ranging from childcare to housing, their infant and toddler program promotes emotional, cognitive and physical development for children aged 2–5 and provides high-quality child development services. Through a well-run child nutrition program, more than 7,000 children receive daily, healthy subsidized meals. The Chicano Federations’ affordable housing program offers affordable rents at below-market rates, while a workforce development program helps the unemployed develop skills and find jobs.
Building A Stronger California
Banc of California is proud to support nonprofit organizations that have a positive impact on the community. We show our commitment to the Chicano Federation by making corporate donations, our involvement helps build resiliency and self-sufficiency in underserved neighborhoods. We strive to change the tide for future generations, so we actively support the Chicano Federation in mobilizing young people to feel confident to speak up and be advocates for change.
The Chicano Federation of San Diego County is to bring more attention to the opportunities that the organization provides to our communities by connecting like-minded organizations and individuals that can create momentum for positive change.
