POSITIVE PAY

How does Check Positive Pay work?

The client sends a file to the bank containing information about the checks (drafts) it has issued. The day after the checks clear (post), the information from the posting file is compared to the issue file. If the information matches, the checks clear; if the information does not match, the client is notified of an exception and required to make a pay or return decision.

How do I send my issues?

Clients can enter issues manually via the website, upload a file via the website or send a file via FTP.

How do I know if I have a good prospect?

Any business client who writes/issues checks is a good client. Usually, companies say they don’t need it, but they almost all want the product after they experience check fraud. Sadly, some clients need to be victims before they buy.

What is ACH Positive Pay?

ACH Positive Pay is a fraud detection and prevention product for ACH. A client who enrolls in the service will be presented with an exception for each ACH debit or credit transaction received on the enrolled account unless the client places a filter that allows the transaction to process without creating an exception.

Isn’t ACH Positive Pay usually for debits?

Yes, the use case to block money received is a lot weaker than to block money being withdrawn from the account, but clients may still want to block an originator from depositing money to its account.

Don’t most banks present exceptions before the item posts?

Yes, any large banks present the exceptions before items post, so if the item is rejected it will never post to the account.
