Scott Hansen

Scott Hansen is Executive Vice President and Head of Life Sciences Venture Banking at Banc of California. In this role, Mr. Hansen manages the life sciences & healthcare business strategy and Venture Banking team to drive growth and deepen relationships within the venture capital ecosystem. Under Mr. Hansen’s leadership since 2019, the life sciences venture banking practice has originated over $2.5 billion of new venture loan commitments.

Mr. Hansen joined the bank in early 2015 via Square 1 Bank to lead the expansion of its life sciences practice in New England. Square 1 Bank was acquired by Pacific Western Bank in late 2015, which subsequently merged with Banc of California in 2023.

Prior to joining Square 1 Bank, Mr. Hansen spent nearly 10 years in investment banking. Mr. Hansen began his career at KeyBanc Capital Markets as an M&A banker covering the industrial sector and later worked as Vice President at BMO Capital Markets in the healthcare investment banking practice. Mr. Hansen has extensive experience leading venture debt transactions, sell-side and buy-side mergers and acquisitions, strategic alternative reviews, leveraged finance and equity capital raises, and other strategic advisory engagements for both public and private clients with aggregate transaction volume exceeding $5 billion.

Mr. Hansen earned a B.S. in Finance from Case Western Reserve University and lives in Lakewood Ranch, FL, with his wife and two kids.
