Safely and easily.
Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions provide a fast, efficient method for making and receiving payments. ACH allows you to safely and quickly create electronic payments and deposits and originate transactions when and where you want to.
It’s a cost-effective way to handle routine transactions and can be used for a wide variety of payments and deposits including direct deposit of payroll, payments to vendors, payments from customers (often referred to as eChecks) and federal tax payments.
To add ACH transactions to your financial toolbox, call your Banc of California Relationship Manager.
Under Management Tools, you’ll find a suite of options for creating and managing ACH transactions.
From the Options screen, you can quickly research and make changes to transfers you’ve created or add new ones and reuse them to make future transfers.
You can easily remove the ones that are no longer useful, cancel the next processing date or reverse erroneous transactions that have already been processed. And the Review option provides supervisors with the authority to approve transfers prior to processing.
Templates enable you to manage large batch files, such as payroll, that take place on a recurring basis. (You can approve templates created by employees prior to offering access.)
Based on your selected option, the search fields on the right allow you to quickly define or filter the ACH information that you are creating, importing, reviewing or editing.
To add a new template:
As with all transfers you set up, if you’re unsure about a routing number, you can use the Find icon to quickly locate the financial institution by name and save it when ready, and you’ll see your newly created group in the list along with the new template.
Saved indicates the transfer has been created but has not yet been submitted for processing.
Processed indicates that the transfer has completed the transfer process and your funds have been transferred.
The status might also indicate a need for review or approve the transfer prior to sending it for processing.
The list offers sorting and filtering options:
Select View Report.
To quickly make changes to Saved or Pending transfers:
Once a transfer has been processed, the transfer information remains stored in the system and is available to reuse for future transactions quickly and easily.
Duplicate or erroneous transactions that have completed the transfer process are easily reversed, if necessary. You can reverse a single transaction or an entire batch with just a few clicks.
(Under ACH legal rules the reverse transaction must be available to the receiving institution within five business days of the transaction’s settlement date. And a reversal can only be performed once for each transfer.)
With Review ACH Transfer, supervisors can quickly review and approve any transfers that are pending approval, prior to processing.
When employees are set up and assigned access to ACH, you can
If you’re interested in adding these user controls, your Relationship Manager will set them up for you.
Many accounting programs allow you to export your payroll and other payables in NACHA formatted files using the Import ACH Transfer option. If your file is not already NACHA formatted (for example, a comma-separated file), the Import ACH Using Template option will re-map your file when importing and allow you to save the import template to use for future files in that same format.
Incoming ACH allows you to search in real-time for ACH transactions that are being transferred to your accounts from other accounts. For example, if you have customers that make payments to you using ACH, you can quickly and easily find the status of their payments.
