The Chicano Federation
EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES through programs that create new opportunities
The Chicano Federation started in 1968 in the heart of the civil rights movement. Today, they serve more than 8,000 individuals monthly and dedicate themselves to providing meaningful, life-changing interactions with each family they serve.
With a list of comprehensive essential services programs ranging from childcare to housing, their infant and toddler program promotes emotional, cognitive and physical development for children aged 2–5 and provides high-quality child development services. Through a well-run child nutrition program, more than 7,000 children receive daily, healthy subsidized meals. The Chicano Federations’ affordable housing program offers affordable rents at below-market rates, while a workforce development program helps the unemployed develop skills and find jobs.
Building A Stronger California

We show our commitment to the Chicano Federation by making corporate donations, our involvement helps build resiliency and self-sufficiency in underserved neighborhoods. We strive to change the tide for future generations, so we actively support the Chicano Federation in mobilizing young people to feel confident to speak up and be advocates for change.
HEAR FROM A VOLUNTEER
“Each day, I strive to make a dramatic positive impact on somebody’s life. The Chicano Federation does this for hundreds of lives each and every day. They are built on a foundation of advocacy, fairness and equality. They help improve neighborhoods with affordable housing and provide educational and nutritional services for all San Diegans in need. My goal in supporting The Chicano Federation of San Diego County is to bring more attention to the opportunities that the organization provides to our communities by connecting like-minded organizations and individuals that can create momentum for positive change.”

HEAR FROM OUR PARTNER
“Chicano Federation has a history of advocacy and fighting for equal access to resources for all who live in San Diego. I see my family in those community members who come through our doors. I see my mom, dad, brothers, tias, and tios. That is why I am excited to lead this organization forward in removing barriers and providing equitable access to services and why I am especially passionate about advocating for all to achieve self-sufficiency in San Diego.”
